Sound video feedback and learner response

1) Type up your feedback from your teacher.

-The opening is superb-edited tot he beat, clearly works as parallel and a good selection of clips.
-I'm not sure on the contrapuntal section-elements of the romance works but others are perhaps a little parallel in place? Perhaps another where it is a different track to really find contrapuntal images? Videos.
-overall a good production with some very nice editing touches.

2) Type up your feedback from fellow students - you can summarise key points if several students give you similar feedback.

3) Now reflect on your work and write your own evaluation of your video. Write a 'What went well' (WWW) paragraph and a paragraph for 'Even Better If' (EBI) underneath the rest of your feedback.

I think my www was that my sound and editing matched well with the parallel section. However my ebb would be the EBI contrapuntal section where the romance contained a few crying scenes that matched the song making it parallel.

4) Learner response: compare your own video against your evaluation of the top three videos in the class. Whose did you think was best and why? How could you have improved your own video?

I think Anas had the best sound video as he used a combination of cartoons  real life and was able to blend it together with his chosen sound. His contrapuntal and parallel; clips were clear as well. For my one, next time i should use a variety of clips to separate the contrapuntal and parallel videos.

5) Finally, what have you learned about the importance of sound to film and TV through this week's work?

Sound plays a big part in Tv as it helps set the scene adding depth and texture to the narrative ensuring the audience understands what their watching. It also helps the story unfold and makes the readers question or even predict what happens next using the choice of sound.

Mise-en-scene

    1) Find a distinctive   still image   and write an analysis of the mise-en-scene. Use each of the aspects you've learned in the lesson.  The women is seen to be wearing a wedding dress as if she is about to get married or has just made her vows. The colour of white can connote her innocence and youth as wedding are seen as sacred. However the props of a gun and bullet contrast with this idea as they appeal the thought of violence and destruction. This harsh difference highlights how an unexpected event has caused for the bride to have become a solider at war. The setting show a dim living room lit by candles to reveal the genre of horror or thriller. This lighting is able to outline her messy hair and show her torn and dirtied dress. Her make-up seems to be purposely been created to be dark, smudged and quite dirty looking to reflect her hardship she might have gone through or an unexpected event that has occurred making her emotionless and perhaps traumatised. Lighting blog tasks

  1) Still image analysis Look at the still images on slides 33-37 of the Film Language Powerpoint linked above. Copy the images into your blog and answer the following questions for  each  image: Identify examples of  high  and  low-key  lighting. Say which depict  top ,  back  or  under lighting . What  effects  are created by the lighting in each image?      Image 1:  This image shows a female with low key lighting and is includes both back and top lighting. This creates dramatic shadows across her face and is able to reveal the smoke released from her cigar. This lighting also covers the location reinforcing genre of mystery and crime. Image 2: This is low key with top lighting. This can suggest how the blackness is taking over as her facial features are the only part lit up. This can also show genre of noir from the female. Image 3: This image can be a mix of high and low key as there is a contrast on his face while there is soft lighting surrounding him to show how he is outdoors
